i have the netgear r6300v1 and tried to update the firmware to ddwrt K3_R6300V2_15-Dec-2014.chk but i keep getting this screen http://prntscr.com/73008z i was wondering how i can bypass that, do i have to give the file a diff name or what. the stock firmware is a JOKE and id like to upgrade to dd-wrt ( which i have used on netgear WNDR3400 and netgear WNDR4500 both with out a problem).

i also just now downgraded the firmware to
ok i just tried changing the name of the dd-wrt firmware to R6300-V1.0.0.68_1.0.16 to try and trick the router and that did not work now im totaly at a loss and kinda annoyed lol.
i even tried doing this http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/19841/~/reinstall-the-firmware-on-a-router-without-the-setup-cd-recovery-tool and kept getting a unable to get responses from the server
You can't install V2 firmware on a V1 device. Renaming doesn't change that fact.
Get the correct version for your V1 device. I am pretty sure I've seen it in downloads on the DD-WRT website.
