Benefits of Open-WRT?

Hi there!

just received my new R7500 and it seems to work fine so far. As I was using a Router with DD-WRT before which gave me much more flexibility over my previous router's firmware I wonder which benefit I would have using Open WRT over the stock FW?

Is there any feature chart or similar?
