Kong's latest build 29300

I just installed what appears to be the latest build from KONG - 29300.  I flashed and did power off & reset 3 times, then confimed router to my likings.  All seems to be running well.  I even installed my VPN service PureVPN using PPTP, and played a MMO game on the internet for 1 hour with no lag or drops.

Also, do not use latest

Also, do not use latest FireFox browser to confiure the DD-WRT interface. It didn't play well with configuring router.  I ended up using Windows IE11 to do the settings.  FireFox wouldn't save or apply the values correct.

Still going strong.

Still going strong.

I only had 1 (VPN settings) internet drop yesterday, but that could be due to crappy things (power or internet) here in Costa Rica. So, not ready to blame this build.

Restart of Router took care of it.

I do not use the bridging or joining of the 2 5g wifi.  So, my testing is simply use, connection uptime and I have done 2 speed tests which show me very close (within 0.3/mbs) of my service speed.

summary - nothing negative at all to say

I was curious if the two 5Ghz

I was curious if the two 5Ghz connections can be merged like on the stock netgear f/w but just noticed you did not try that, the build i tried back in december also only showed one 5ghz network, is yours showing all 3 (2 5Ghz +2.4Ghz)?

I've been playing with the

I've been playing with the 29300 since yesterday and I am facing a lot of issues unfortunately - hope this post will help troubleshoot and solve or workaround them !

My brand new R8000 is my 4st dd-wrt router, and my 2nd netgear after 2 linksys

I did the upgrade from the Netgear firmware to Kong dd-wrt by following these steps :

- factory reset

- firmware upgrade

- nvram reset

- configuration, following guidelines from this forum : 5 ghz Ap with différent names, 40 or 80, AC or N (not mixed mode), WPA2 perso+AES only auth.

most of the advanced features are deactivated - In only created a guest wifi on the 2 ghz wireless network (wl 1.1).

Here are the results :

- very poor 5Ghz signal despite a boost to 200 mW

- unstable 5Ghz wifi : it appears and disappears, I am not able to connect to it most of the time

- my Synology NAS (directly connected to the router) disappears after a few hours - the only solution is to remove the cable and plug it back again / or reboot the NAS.

- dd-wrt web server crash after a few hours... doing nothing special. Even a telnet connection is refused, I have to switch off/on the router (twice tonight while writing this email)

- I see this in the logs, about every 2 minutes :

Apr 6 19:32:00 R8000 user.info : nas : NAS daemon successfully stopped
Apr 6 19:32:02 R8000 user.info : nas : NAS daemon hanging, send SIGKILL
Apr 6 19:32:03 R8000 user.info : NAS : NAS lan (wl0 interface) successfully started
Apr 6 19:32:03 R8000 user.info : NAS : NAS lan (wl1 interface) successfully started
Apr 6 19:32:03 R8000 user.info : NAS : NAS lan (wl1.1 interface) successfully started
Apr 6 19:32:03 R8000 user.info : NAS : NAS lan (wl2 interface) successfully started

followed by a (partial - most of the hosts on the network are not requesting anything) :

things are doing better after

things are doing better after erasing again the nvram and re-typing the whole configuration, except de wifi guest feature

it sems that the router became very unstable after having loaded the configuration from the bin file

one last thing I could not is

one last thing I could not is the connection loss after a few minutes/hours between my Synology 214+ / DSM 6 and the R8

the workaround is to remove auto-neg on both sides and force 1 Gbps / Full duplex - I'll try to change the cable to see if it improves the neg. No problem of this kind with the Netgear firmware.
