Netgear R6250 bricked after installing Tomato by Shibby 129-AIO-64K?

Dear All,

I successfully flashed my Netgear R6250 router with the Tomato by Shibby's "Initial build". Upgrading to 129-AIO-64K, I guess I failed by ticking off "After flashing, erase all data in NVRAM". Having rebooted version 129-AIO-64K, the device responded at http://192.168.1.1, but did not accept any of the usual username/password combinations.

Hoping to be able to telnet to port 233 and get in without a passward, I tried holding down the wifi button for 25 seconds, both 3 seconds after power on, after full boot and from power on, without success. Then I tried the same with the rest button, but now the device does not seem to respond to any network requests at all - not even ping.

Suggestions, anyone?

Well. The router is not

Well. The router is not bricket, but up and running again, now with 129_AIO-64K.

I'm not sure excacly how things went wrong, and how they went right again. Appearently, the admin password changed from "password" to "admin" when the NVRAM was erased. Further, it seems the device needed a couple of minutes by it self after my fiddling with the wifi and reset buttons. Finally, opening for telnet to port 233 seems not to be available shortly after a power cyckle, so patience is requred, both before and after the 20+ seconds push. And 'nvram get http_password' returns nothing, since the variable has been renamed.

Yes, running Tomato on the Netgear D6250 is a good idea, but getting it up and running is not always like a walk in the park.

Sadly, installing Tomato by

Sadly, installing Tomato by Shibby on the Netgear D6250 is currently not a good idea. The 2.4 GHz wifi signal becomes very weak and is virtually useless. The bug report with identifier 1824 was issued almost a year ago (http://tomato.groov.pl/?page_id=334&bugerator_nav=display&bug_project=1&...), but still remains to be resolved. Until fixed, D6250 owners are stuck with Netgears own Genie firmware, unless 2.4 GHz wifi is outside your scope.

I tested the latest Shibby

I tested the latest Shibby version and same non-existant 2.4 issue.  The status page said it was working but  the three 2.4 devices I have could not see it.

Whatever 2.4 driver that is

Whatever 2.4 driver that is used in DD-WRT and Kong needs to be implamented into Tomato if it can be.  DD-WRT and Kong have zero problems with 2.4.  My wifes iPod can pick up our WiFi signal 2 houses away.
