There's so such thing as

There's so such thing as "best". "Best" is whatever you decide is after trying various options (firmwares). For me, "best" is Tomato Shibby since it supports hardware acceleration and simple bandwidth limiting

Thanks microchip

Thanks microchip

I'm not familiar with this procedure. I admit that I like the result ;)
To avoid damage to my router. I have to ask the experienced people

Thats why I ask for a good and stable firmware to start and learn with.

Don't forget I'm not good in english so the subtlety of the language are complicated for me. I apologize

I'm sure this post will serve to another individu with or without experience or not

I will appreciate to have other opinions on the subject. Thank you to all of you

Well, I don't have much

Well, I don't have much experience with DD- or OpenWRT, but if you want to flash Tomato Shibby, it's very easy on NETGEAR routers and you'll get CTF hardware acceleration as a bonus

1) Make sure you're on stock NETGEAR firmware and do a factory default reset

2) Flash the INITIAL Tomato firmware for the R8000

3) if successful, flash the FULL Tomato firmware file (the one with AIO in its name) and enable erase NVRAM data option

4) you may need to set a static IP on your PC, like 192.168.1.2 only if you can't reach the GUI after doing step 3) above. If you can, no need to set a static IP

Shibby has a video explaining it all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w10jLqRmdLM

you can install 137 MultiWAN.

you can install 137 MultiWAN. No issues are reported by most people since its release a week ago or so

As for going back to original firmware, yes you can. Just flash the "back to original" file Shibby provides and select "erase NVRAM data" during flashing
