Should I be wired when performing a firmware update?

I seem to have messed something up. i started the process of updating to the latest tomato while I was on wifi. Here's where I got stuck:

  • I reset my router to defaults
  • waited for the reboot
  • connected to its wifi using the password on the bottom of router
  • logged into web GUI to upload "initial" firmware

At this point the router rebooted again, but when I try to join the wifi, the password is incorrect. So I'm locked out of joining the wifi network which means I can't even get to the web GUI.

anyone else have this problem? Should I have only attempted this on a wired connection?

Looks like I'm in business!

Looks like I'm in business! All I had to do was perform a hard reset with the small reset button in the back. After it rebooted, the wifi was changed to Tomato24 & Tomato50 and I'm able to join.
