is my firmware causing me to lose half my speed?

Hi guys,

Im running Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/06/14) kongac on a R7000.  My internet speed is 500/down. When it hits my router at best it is 220/down.  I'm losing half my speed.  I don't have a modem, I have fiber optic.  Do i need to update my firmware?  If so, to which one?

DD-WRT doesn't have CTF (cut

DD-WRT doesn't have CTF (cut-through forwarding) hardware acceleration because it doesn't use Broadcom's kernel. For anything above 250-300 Mbps, you NEED CTF as the CPU is too weak to process it all. You're only two options are:

1) go back to stock firmware

2) use Tomatto Shibby or one of its mods, which is the only open source firmware which has CTF as it uses the Broadcom's kernel and drivers

Note that on Tomato, CTF is

Note that on Tomato, CTF is by default disabled. Enable it in Advanced -> Miscellaneous

You can also load XWRT Vortex

You can also load XWRT Vortex. It too has CTF but is not open source (it should be!) as the Russian dev doesn't post its changes
