How does asuswrt Merlin & xwrt vortex firmware compare to other firmwares available?
As I am on information overload.

not an easy question to answer as it depends on your needs and taste, but I'd say the ASUS firmware (and its forks) is the best vendor firmwar of all. I personally use Tomato as it offers a few things the ASUS one doesn't offer yet in an easy way
Many thanks
My requirements are to make the most of a rural broadband speed (2-3) mbps, a large number of wired/wireless devices.
Large amount of streaming
Also, a large house so wireless range is important.
for large houses, I recommend APs if a single router can't cover it. For streaming, in order not to distrupt other services, you'd have to set up a good QoS system. That of Tomato, DD-WRT and ASUSWRT is pretty good. As for many devices, it shouldn't be a problem regardless of which firmware
I have an R8000 bought in SIngapore and the region is set to the USA , which I cannot change .
How can I download new firmware which is for Europe ( Portugal)
Thanks

Thanks for your help. Using Asus exert vortex. Just figuring out the best options for very slow br
oadband speeds
I recently purchased the Netgear R6300v2 AC1750.
My question is, do I need something else other than the DD-WRT Download File?
I've been reading information that seems confusing to me.
The impression that I get is that you need 2 separate files to flash this Router. If so, which ones and what are the steps.
My goal is really just to enjoy both (2.4/5 ghz) bands and VPN.
I don't want to mess this router up if I flash it with DD-WRT so I would appreciate some clarity on what I need and don't need.
Thanks in advance!
