DD-WRT "Kong Mod" NETGEAR Builds Updated 2016-09-09

New Kong builds are out, folks!

Grab them in the NETGEAR firmware downloads section.

Note:

- *.bin files can only be flashed from dd-wrt webif.
- *.chk can be flashed from Netgear factory fw and from dd-wrt webif

- I don't provide factory to dd-wrt for non Netgear models
since I do not own any non Netgear Broadcom units

All builds include ddup util, which allows update checking
and flashing of the following models:

Netgear EX6200
Netgear AC1450
Netgear R6250
Netgear R6300V2
Netgear R6400
Netgear R7000
Netgear R8000
Netgear R8500

ddup will also compared the cryptographic signature to make sure the
build has not been compromised.

There's a 9/27 build out

There's a 9/27 build out there that I'm using as I write this.

Not only do I test on the various wireless devices I have, I use the DSL Reports speed test an well as Ookla.

All of my 5GHz devices are reporting back as if they were jacked in.  Fast.

DSL Reports has a but more of a comprehensive test, they just don't echo back your speed, I recommend it.

Anyway, this build seems stable and fares better on DSL Reports.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

I can't replace my buffalo

I can't replace my buffalo WZR-1750DHP with a R6300V2 with this version of DD-WRT. I have 3 client bridges R6250 (running also same version 09/09/2016) that are on the 5Hz, AC-Only with channeal 149 width 20Mhz and broadcast Disabled. They can connect to the  WZR-1750DHP but can't to the R6300V2.

Let me know if you need more screen capture or any log....

Hi,

Hi,

Can one move back and forth between Netgear stock firmware (latest
build) and DD-WRT Kong mod without having to be able to Telnet into the
router to perform NVRAM Erase operations, etc...?

I'm a newbie who'd like to try something other than Netgear's Genie, but
am nervous about the apparent complexity of upgrading to mods, and the
risk of losing (bricking?) my R7000.

Thanks,

AntonK

Hi!

Hi!

Can I provide additional security to ALL my clients on R8000 using DD-WRT? I must admit, I am new to the concept of flashing third party Firmware. I heard some can brick the device too. Can you please guide me to help me secure my network?

Thanks

Regards

Hi!

Hi!

I am trying the DD-WRT V24-SP2 Kongac (02/26/15). Can you please guide me to make my router more secure (Details of any settings that I can fiddle with) to increase the security for ALL Clients on my network? I hear some hackers can hack into my WiFi Network and just assimilate packet using AirPCAP or even Kali Linux. I want to make it difficult for them to capture my data..

Please guide me.

Thanks

Regards
