No one commented here, and this looks like an old post, but I will post the answer so that others who come across this can refer to it.
1. Do a hard reset on your router. (hold the reset button for 30 seconds and do not let go. keep holding the reset button and pull out the power plug. continue to hold onto the reset button for 30 seconds and keep holding. plug in the power and keep holding the reset button for 30 more seconds. let go after this process and it should now be reset)
2. Log back into the router and go to the section where you update your firmware and upload the .chk file
3. After flashing, do another hard reset
4. Log in using the default login for dd wrt (username root, password admin)
5. Update all of your settings (put passwords on your wireless networks)
