Help trying to set up VPN?
Hi all,

First of all, I'm new to all of this, so please have patience.

I'm trying to disguise my internet connection's IP address so that I can view Netflix content. I live in Argentina; I have a Motorola svg6582 cable modem, a netgear 6300 router, and a Roku device. I also pay for a server with Windows Server 2012 in Florida.

I understand that I can use that server in Florida to disguise my IP, but I have no idea how to do so. I know I can install OpenVPN somewhere but I do not know where.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

There are several ways you

There are several ways you can do this and it varies on provider.

Most providers will allow you to set up a VPN connection with open source firmware such as Tomato or DD-WRT -- we have several guides here for various models on how to do this, but most VPN providers also provide instructions as they can differ from provider to provider.

PIA is one example, they have several guides on their support page inclouding DD-WRT and Tomato setup guides:

You can also use desktop clients on each machine. This is convenient if you want to be able to turn the VPN on and off at will, but also means that not every device connected to the router automatically goes through the VPN.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the post, but I'm

Thanks for the post, but I'm not following you. I was told somewhere else to install OpenVPN in the server, but that's the most I did.

I still don't quite understand the benefit of installing OpenVPN in the Florida server. I'm in Argentina & my wireless modem, Netgear router, roku device, and internet are also in Argentina.

What should my first step be? Please Explain like I'm a five-year old.

The reason I mentioned that I have a server in the US is because this DigitalTrends link says that it can help.
