Even after 30/30/30 full reset of my NetGear WNR3500Lv2 running AdcanedTomato, I can't access the router over ethernet (or wireless) from my Windows 10 Pro laptop!
The default IP of the router after reset is 192.168.1.1, but whenever I try connecting, Firefox always says: "Firefox can't establish connection to the server at 192.168.1.1"
The problem may be related to the IPv4 adapter settings in Windows' Ethernet Properties panel. What settings should I use? No one ever documents this. I've tried leaving all the entries blank, but I get the message above. I've also tried using the following settings
IP address: 192.168.1.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS 1: (blank) OR 192.168.1.1
But that gets the same error message as well!
What am I doing wrong? What else can I try?
Thanks!
I tried disabling IPv4 autoconfiguration and the DHCP service, and now I'm getting time-out messages instead of "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.1". That's progress, I suppose...
Never mind. For some inexplicable reason, the router reset did NOT reset it's config IP, so when Itried the custom IP I set up previously, it worked!
