DD-WRT is dropping packets / very slow I'm thinking of trying tomato instead

Hi everyone.  I'ave had my netgear R8000, a while now and I just recently installed DD-wrt on it for the first time.  I've used DD-wrt on other routers before, but the stock on my R8000, had everything I needed so I never flashed it.  This router has always given me issues where I need to reboot it from time to time, (every couple months).

Anyways, I decided to try dd-wrt.  I did a (1)factory reset, (2)reset button on the router, (3) flashed dd-wrt [DD-WRT Kong Mod for NETGEAR R8000 (2017-06-11)], (4) reset button on the router, and finally (5) started setting it up.  Setting up = set up wifi, guest wifi, changed the dhcp server to match my old one (192.168.11.x) and set up some static IPs for things I need.  Did a couple port forwards and that is it.

It worked at first, but the following day the internet was sooo slow (I did a speedtest I had 1-2mb and I typically get 90-100mb), I couldn't even connect to the router itself.  I had to pull the power plug out to reset the router.  It worked fine again.  Then about a day later the same thing happened.  I did a couple more reboots (I was messing with some settings, honestly don't recall which now.)  It's a bit better now, but it's dropping packets.  I read about it and it recommended changing the wireless channels.  That made things worse and packets were dropping like crazy (TX was over 3800).  So, I switched it back to auto and rebooted.  That was yesterday afternoon and as of now (less than 24 hours later)

I'm at a loss as to what to do.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Because of the issues, I've been thinking about switching to tomato to see if it works better for me.  The question I have there is, can i flash from dd-wrt to tomato?  If so, do I still need to do the initial flash, and then the all in one?  Do I have to flash back to stock first?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and any help you might have.

Yes you have to restore to

laughYes you have to restore to stock and first you have to have all the files ready and do it carefully so you dont brick it. First thing to do is find shibbys guide and read very slow so you dont do anything wrong and after you have done every step on the guide download the file on the website and you can upload it in Administration and look after upgrade in your router because i dont have R8000 but try my solution thats will work becuase i have tried it on My R6400 and it worked for me becuase i wanted to upgrade my router so i dont have WPS enabled because it is a security vulnerability and now im more free to change settings and more that i could not do before and am very happy about it.        (Im not held responsble for any damage nor is im gulity in case of someone bricking the router)

Just an update on packet

Just an update on packet errors.  Less than 24 hours after my post I'm up to this many errors.

This doesn't seem right, right?

Just so you are aware tomato shibby has poor wifi on certain routers I have an R6400 I have tried dd wrt and tomato dd wrt provides the best wifi the tx errors are normal at this stage as dd wrt is still rather new to the r6400 R8000 etc.

Is teh rebooting daily or

Is teh rebooting daily or every other day common too?  Otherwise the network is sooo slow.  Sometimes I cannot even connect to the router itself.
