Help please - I have turned my R8000 into a R7000

Hi,

I have tried to revert from Tomato to Genie and used the OFW file for the R7000 since I couldnt find any for the R8000. I can access the router through Genie, but it has changed into a R7000.

I have done multiple 30 30 30 resets, to no avail. Now when, in Genie, I try to restore to factory defaults the process does not finish. If I try to upgrade the firmware, I get a message saying that the firmware is invalid.

I have also tried to do the initial Tomato inatallation, but Genie does not accept it either since it thinks that my router is a R7000

Should I install Tomato for the R7000:

Your suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Luiz

Hi Frodo,

Hi Frodo,

I can still run Genie as a R7000, but can;t activate WiFi, must plug the modem cable in a LAN port to have Internet access and it's impossible to update the firmware.

Maybe if I could delay the reboot process, the update would work because when I hold the reset button and cluck on update the process goes half way through. The update stops and the router finishes the reboot process. I have been reading about updating trhrough the serial port, so I might try it next since at this point I don't have much to lose.

Best of luck,

Luiz
