Flashed wrong board I'D for an R8000

So I think I have taken router bricking to a new level. I have currently tried tested the DD-WRT R8000 firmware and had issues with the GUI kicking me out when trying to make adjustments. So I changed over to Tomato had had success with testing of a VPN client software. I further wanted to revert back to Factory Netgear firmware to compare. I followed the instructions and flashed the image file back to Factory. The issue is that it flashed firmware for a R7000 not an R8000. I have tried various attempts to revert to back to DR WRT, Tomato and even other NETGEAR firmware all attempts result in incrroect firmware version for this devise. If anyone has and ideas as to what I need to do to restore the firmware back to R8000 would be greatly appreciated. TTL maybe my only option. But not sure on the correct files and procedures. All recovery methods seem to be using R7000 and do not apply.
PLEASE HELP..

I know this may seem trivial,

I know this may seem trivial, but have you tried the 30-30-30 reset? It'll clear the RAM so you can flash the right R8000 Netgear software. I had a similar issue. The R8000 would not work properly after fresh install of factory software. The 30-30-30 trick had worked for me on this model as well as the R7000.

I've done the exact same

I've done the exact same thing to my router as well. The router is in rough shape but I can still access the GUI, with the same problem of being unable to flash any firmware. I tried a tftp connection as outlined here (https://kb.netgear.com/22688/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-...) as well as here (https://khomenko.org/?p=412) and the same problem occured with each. I get a tftp client ready, I have only one ethernet connection set in LAN 4 (no other connections), I set the static ip as listed, I open a terminal with a continuous ping with a solid response, then I turn off the power, hold down the reset button, turn it back on while continuing to hold the reset button, and then the router never enters a state where it is listening for the tftp connection. It just cycles through resetting over and over again. I've held it down for several minutes and it never changes.

There has to be something I am missing when it comes to getting the router to accept the tftp connection. That or if anyone knows how to get the GUI interface to ignore an inproper firmware update (but is actually the right firmware, it just thinks it's wrong because its stuck with R7000 firmware), that would be greatly appreciated.

You can reset by opening up

You can reset by opening up  and wirng in a USB FTDI board, should allow you to reset everything and try again. Many of us have pooched ours, well temporarily anyhow. ;) Pretty sure I remeber a few online tutorials with pictures...

I had the same issues this

I had the same issues this weekend and managed to get things back up after following the various debrick tutorials. The part I had most difficulty with was figuring out how to sort out the USBTTL Cable and getting the wires out of the harness only to discover I had reversed the Tx and Rx (or the cable was not wired right) once I got through that and tried a different tftpd tool it worked like a charm. It was a good 2-3 hour exercise to run through for someone who was learning as they went.
