Open VPN broken (DD-WRT Kong Mod for NETGEAR R7000 2016-12-18)

Hello,

as title of the thread after installing the latest version (the one released on 12/19) of the Kong Mod for my Netgear R7000

my OpenVPN cannot any longer connect.

The problem is currently solved by reinstating the previous version of the firmware (12/02).

nb: this is not the first episode of this problem. I remember clearly having it back in june. Not sure what the culprit is though.

Thanks for the heads up, I

Thanks for the heads up, I was using 12/02 build (but access restrictions weren't working, so i flashed to the standard ww-drt build, but that broke openVPN).  Guess it's back to 12/02 kong build and a secondary router for access restrictions :/

i guess i can't edit posts

i guess i can't edit posts here, anyways, i updated to the 12/20 build and openVPN works fine for me (using AirVPN)

not sure if that's actually a day newer of a build than what you used before, but you might try it:

Connectivity issues are a pain to deal with, especially if they are impacting your business. Because there are many variables involved in such an issue, the problem can be seemingly impossible to solve despite the amount of effort you put in to attempt to correct the issue. That said, with the correct diagnostic tools, troubleshooting such a problem can be a manageable task.

What I initially meant to

What I initially meant to report was the OpenVPN SERVER feature, not the client.

I am sorry that it has created confusion.

As today, with firmware 2017-Jan-03 the bug is still there.

The OpenVPN server works normally with firmware of 2016-Dec-02.

I hope it will be solved soon, does anybody has a way to troubleshoot this?

Today, a new firmware 2017

Today, a new firmware 2017-Jan-05 has been released,

but the bug is still there - the OpenVPN Server won't connect.

Downgrading to firmware of 2016-Dec-02 makes the OpenVPN server works normally.

If user Kong is reading this, please feel free to contact me.

The latest builds come with

The latest builds come with openvpn 2.4. IN 2.4 some params have changed or removed, thus it is important, that you check your configs. The build comes with an updated config generator and has been tested in client/server mode.

Thank you Kong for bringing

Thank you Kong for bringing light to the issue.

Unfortunately I am now forced to not update because I do not have the knowledge

necessary to troubleshoot / upgrade my configuration to OpenVPN 2.4

(unless you can provide a tutorial on how to create a configuration from scratch).

As suggested from Kong, since

As suggested from Kong, since openvpn 2.4 by default runs dualstack ipv4 and ipv6 ,

if you did not enable IPV6 then you need to add "proto tcp4-client" or if you use the server "proto tcp4-server" in the additional configuration.

That solved the problem with my original configuration and the new firmware.
