OpenVPN bug?

Hello,

I have got XWRT Asus-Merlin firmware: 380.68.4 on a Netgear R7000 working and I like it a lot yes

There is only one problem that I have, my client vpn connection to PIA vpn server, disconnects some times. I never had this problem when I had DD-WRT running on the netgear R7000. The support from Pia tried everything to solve the problem but the problem is still there.

Pia support suspects that this could be the problem:

I think you're currently experiencing an OpenVPN bug. Essentially, your router caches the authentication token, and when your connection with your ISP resets, the new IP assigned to you invalidates your auth token, causing these disconnections. You may be able to resolve this by removing persist-tun from your custom configuration and then adding auth-nocache in its place.

Unfortunately, most router firmware hardcodes the persist-tun option, so there is a chance this fix will not work on this platform.

Unfortunately this is also not the solution for the problem.

So, could it be a Open vpn bug or is it another problem?

Thanks in advance,

Chief

Good afternoon,

Good afternoon,

I bought myself a used Asus AC-RT 86U and installed the latest Merlin firmware (380.69) on the device.

Also with this device I have the excact VPN disconnection problems as with the Netgear Nighthawk R7000.

Everything else is working smooth.

Someone any idea?

Thanks in advance
