Cannot connect to Netgear R8000 after reverting back to stock

I had previously installed dd-wrt (think it was K3_R8000_1-Jul-2015.chk) on my Netgear R8000 with no issues but wanted to revert back to the latest netgear stock.

So i logged int to router, went to "Administration" tab and then clicked on the "Firmware Upgrades" sub-tab.
Clicked on the "Choose File" button and browse to the location of the my latest netgear R8000-V1.0.4.28_10.1.54.chk file
and then clicked "Upgrade"
I waited for the upgrade process to complete and for the router to reboot.

Then did a 30/30/30 reset. i.e. inserting a paper-clip into the reset button hole on the back of the router
holding it down for 30 seconds. Remove the power cord while continuing to hold the reset button.
Wait another 30 seconds. Reconnect the power cord and continue holding the reset button for an additional 30 seconds.
Released the reset button and wait for the router to fully reset.

I then had to change the wired IP4 network adapter address on my laptop be in the 192.168.1.xx domain as router default is 192.168.1.1

Next, in the browser I typed 192.168.1.1 it brought up netgear genie, asked me 2 yes no questions about sending notifications, then I hit submit.

Since this last step I cannot 192.168.1.1 into the router, it defaults me to a routerlogin.com page that says:-

You may not be connected to your Router’s WiFi network. To access routerlogin.com, your device must be connected to your Router’s WiFi network. Check your current connection and try again.

I can ping 192.168.1.1 from cmd prompt no problem.

One other funny thing since performing this is that on the wifi network the SSID shows as just "NETGEAR" where before it was "NETGEARxx" (where xx is a number, the same SSID that is on the back of the router).

Any ideas appreciated.

Also, I had much more success

Also, I had much more success with the 7 second reset than 30/30/30
