R6300v2 doesn't want to upgrade firmware

I have two Netgear AC1450 unlocked to R6300v2 and one was on the latest Kong DD-WRT. The other I used in the office. My fried my home router by overclocking for some more storage performance and wan throughput. Now I picked the one from the office while waiting for new R7800 to arrive.

The firmware is still Kong DD-WRT from 2016 and doesn't have the wan bypass mode (forgot the name) and since I have 350mbit and through cpu it's stuck on 220mbit I'd like to flash the latest Kong which was very stable on my other unit.

Now here it comes. I downloaded the latest Kong firmware and flashed it through Edge and chrome, zipped and unzipped, reset and don't reset. it inmediately says firmware upgrade successful and reboots. But after reboot. Nothing has changed. The firmware version is still the same.

I tried a bit older firmware version but same result (no result).

It does reset if I select that option. But it doesn't flash.

Anyone got any idea what's going on ?

Stepped away from Kong to

Stepped away from Kong to official DD-WRT and it worked like a charm. Only later I found another version of the R6300v2 which is called R6300v2CH... CH meaning China? I'm in China and bought this thing in China.. I might give that one a try.
