1. Is PPPoE supported in this version - I saw a note in the initial version that it was not. It's my only way to connect to the wild web, so must have it
2. Is USB storage supported? Netgear native version works in Windows and Android tablet (Thrive), but on the tablet it fails in file explorers. I wonder if this Tomato version might do the job
3. Are the logs better than the native firmware? - I'm used to Hyperwrt-Thibor on WRT54g logs and not two-liners which are rough to read
4. Can we tweak the wifi signal power a bit?
Thanks. I'll look into Shibby's build. Scared of it all since I could not possibly debrick having read the frightening instructions! And all those versions confuse me a bit, there's a new one 090, not sure what to take yet.
USB sharing is working fine in the stock build for Windows XP, except on my android tablet, where I can only share through http, but cannot make a share there in a ES file explorer application. The whole USB sharing need for me is marginal, but might be very useful in the long run.
Nice forum here :)
Thanks again.
Shibby 092 is only on the Polish site. And while I can read Polish and shibby on their forum, should I use this one or 090 posted here. I'm in the US and would rather not deal with, possibly, Europe vs US conflicting standards. What do you think?
In case of wanting to go back to original Netgear firmware - would this 3500L article still apply
http://www.myopenrouter.com/article/16099/How-To-Reflash-Factory-Firmwar...
Is it necessary to set static IP on my PC in order to flash Shibby's job?
Is IP restriction GUI done the same way as in original firmware, which I like, since the router does all the typing for me?
Thank you very much for your answers. Really appreciated.
As soon as I decide on things, either Shibby or Toastman goes in. I now wish I could change the thread title since we covered a bit more than the title implies.
3 days later - Shibby version
tomato-Netgear-3500Lv2-K26USB-1.28.RT-N5x--092-AIO.chk
has been running two and a half days. Smooth as silk.
I sure prefer the menu to those funny little squares in the native GUI, and of course a whole bunch of things including the USB job.
Thanks again :)
