firmware with text-only-GUI (ie. w/o a webserver)

Hi,
I would like to have a firmware without any webserver,
ie. where one logs in via ssh and starts a text-GUI (like that in 'make menuconfig')
for the router configuration. Is this maybe already possible in openwrt? (I'm new to openwrt)
