Firmware Upgrade from V3.0-r30700M

I'm presently using v3.0-r30700M Kongac (09/27/16) and would like to upgrade it to latest firmware release which is dated 2018-02.

I have two questions regarding this:

1) Can the latest firmware be loaded from my present version without a reset to factory defaults?

 

2) Does this version fix the WPA (KRACK) security issue?

Speaking for myself... I

Speaking for myself... I never reset my router as long as it’s Netgear before updating. So

e people swear by it but I never had issues. I go I to the DDWRT update section and load the bin or chk file. Settings carry over. I can’t comment on the WPA issue. I don’t use WPA at all. It’s unsafe. WPA2 at best.
