This is my first time to flash open source firmware to a router .
I have read the peacock thread at :
https://secure.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=51486
I have also read this install guide where it is recommended to install Kong K3-AC .chk as the inital flash and then upgrade to Kong K3-AC 25915-SP1 (.bin) :
https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_R6300
later in the article it says that Kong K3-AC 25915-SP1 is no longer recommended and that the following build has no issues :
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2017/02-07-2017-r31277/netgear-r6300/
My question is can I use the dd-wrt.v24-31277_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-R6300.chk as my inital flash instead of the Kong K3-AC and then update using the dd-wrt.v24-31277_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-R6300.bin to upgrade {or is the mega.chk already enough} or would I have to flash with Kong K3-AC first then update to dd-wrt.v24-31277_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-R6300.bin.
Thanks
