Hi there.
If you want to buy WNR3500L and to use it for testing or developing firmware, like newer versions of OpenWRT or DD-WRT, I want to warn you. The pretty pins as you can see on the pictures 1 and 4 of the page http://www.myopenrouter.com/article/13860/WNR3500L-Open-Source-Guide-Res...
and on the picture of the "STEP 8" of the page http://www.myopenrouter.com/article/13859/How-To-Debrick-Your-NETGEAR-WN...
are not there on the devices which they are selling now. If you are good with soldering, may be you can work around. Without soldering - return/replace if you are lucky to get into the trouble in the time you are eligible to it.

I got also a modell without these pins.
I am really wondering why Netgear do this? All about myopenrouter??? Nothing is open! I installed DD-WRT changed some settings and tried to install samba with ipkg. After a restart, i am no longer able to access the router.
Netgear could enable a flash function with USB-Stick.
Press Button - Power on - flashing....... What an idea.

there is way to recover firmware if it's fail. tested and works. just shortcut those two pins and tftp new one :)
Yep no pins on mine. I know it is not needed but come on Netgear. Is it really just that expensive to add the pins.
Thank you very much! The shortcut worked for me!
I will post my successful way there!
