Open NAT on XB1 w/o- UPNP,DMZ, Port Forwarding and NAT filtering secured?

Hi all, First of all I would like to thank Voxel for all his hard work and the others that help! my set up works AWESOME THANK YOU!!

My question is can anyone tell me how i am getting an OPEN NAT on Xbox 1 with UPNP, DMZ, Port Forwarding DISABLED and NAT filtering is set to secure?

I did have DMZ enabled at one point because i thought i had too!! I was getting "network behind a cone NAT" on the XB1 with DMZ enabled and i know DMZ was working like it is supposed too!

I currently have DMZ disabled and i get "network behind address restricted NAT" on the XB1. Again DMZ is working like it is supposed too.

My set up is working AWESOME i have no complaints. I just read alot of people having "NAT" issues and having to have ONE of the above mentioned enabled? I don't have any of these enabled and still have an open NAT on my XB1? Thanks in advanced for any answers....

Not happening. Sorry to be

Not happening. Sorry to be blunt.

For the console to get OPEN NAT both on system settings and in game, you need to have uPnP enabled and Nat Filtering set to secure for a single game cosole or OPEN for two or more consoles.

Please see my post here regarding all of this:

http://badmodems.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=21

Also you need to ensure that your in a single NAT condition. Meaning ISP Modem is a modem only with out any built in router while using the R7800 router. The R7800 router should be the only NAT router. Having a router built in with the modem and using the R7800 router will cause a double NAT condition that will cause Moderate or Strict NAT to appear on system settings and in game.

Then something is funky with

Then something is funky with Voxels fw? I can assure you with 100% certainty that upnp is disabled. Dmz is disabled, no ports are being forwarded and nat filtering is set to secure. I know the settings of this router like the back of my hand. I have a netgear cm600 modem it is not a modem/router combo.

I do have an address reservation set up for the xb1 not sure if that would make a difference? Again thanks for any explanations...

Again, You have to have uPnP

Again, You have to have uPnP ENABLED, not disabled for a single xbox one to get OPEN NAT across the board. Trust me. I have this router and I have two xbox ones and have to have uPnP enabled along with NAT Filter set to OPEN to get OPEN NAT across the board which this router is one of few that can do this for two or more game consoles. I believe with a single xbox concole you can leave NATFilter set to secure for a single game console connection.

I'm running voxels v37F version and have had Voxels FW loaded since 32F. Love his FW.

Heard some issues with NG CM600 modems before on there forums...yes even with there own routers.

Please review that link regarding gaming and NAT.

You wont be able to achive

You wont be able to achive OPEN NAT with out uPnP or Port Fowarding configurations for any game consoles. Either uPnP or Port Fowarding will be needed. You can't use them together though.

I agree with you 100% that i

I agree with you 100% that i should have to have one of them enabled. But i don't....Would you mind turning these settings off on your router and see if you get the same results with open Nat on your xb1? I would love to get to the bottom of this lol. Thanks

Why don't you have uPnP

Why don't you have uPnP enabled? It's safe to use and works. It's needed by the console.

I guess I don't understand what your end result is...

All I want to know is how &

All I want to know is how & why I am able to achieve an open Nat on my xb1 without upnp, dmz or port forwarding enabled and nat filtering set to secure as stated in my original post...

Try disabling the settings above and see if you get an open Nat on xb1.

The reason I have Upnp

The reason I have Upnp disabled because Voxel recomends this on his site channel log under 1.0.2.29SF.

"if you don't have real needs

"if you don't have real needs for uPnP."

In this case you have a real need to use it. I wouldn't worry about uPnP issues. I've been using uPnP for years and haven't had any issues because of it.

If you don't want to use it, then you need to set up Port Forwarding configurations on the router to allow for PORT 3074 to be access by your console. Either way, you need either uPnP or configure Port Fowarding/Triggering to get OPEN NAT.

uPnP is just easier to use and helps in gettng the ports needed for your game console.

Also if your getting OPEN NAT

Also if your getting OPEN NAT with just ONE console, then the console and router are problaby handling the port access with out needing any configuration since you only have 1, only 1 console. MS has recently pushed a new System update which incorporates a new Port Change feature and was also mentioned that they did some under the hood uPnP improvements. Between this and the router, it's probably working as expected for ONE console. Since you have a single NAT network configuration, OPEN NAT shouldn't be an issue for 1 game console.

If this is what your wanting for OPEN NAT, then I wouldn't worry about it. If your getting OPEN NAT on the dashboard and in game, then your golden.

I bet you won't get open nat if you add a 2nd console.
