Paragon Firmware vs. Default

Hi guys,

Maybe I'm missing something, but doesn't the WNR3500L ship with USB NTFS hard drive support out-of-the-box? Does the Paragon software add anything, and if so how is it different from the NTFS support that's included with the router? Anyone tried the paragon firmware?

Thanks.

When I got my router the stock firmware allowed me to connect NTFS formatted HDD...
I wish there was a DD_WRT firmware image with bundled NTFS support and SAMBA (configurable via router's web interface) created especially for WNR3500L

Hi, my router's stock version

Hi, my router's stock version was 1.0.2.26 (before I flashed it with dd-wrt)
I read that the latest beta7 of tomato firmware comes with NTFS support and SAMBA3 but I don't how stable it is or how it performs comparing to SAMBA in stock one...

Cheers

I am thinking about flashing my wnr3500l with the latest beta version (beta7) of tomato created by teddy_bear. Once I get some results I will post them.

Hi, I tried that latest

Hi, I tried that latest tomato beta firmware and I must say that I'm quite impressed with NAS performance. I connected my 250GB USB HDD formatted with NTFS and it was picked up straight away by my router. I used SAMBA to copy some files from my Windows PC on that HDD and the transfer rates were varying between 6-8MB/s (comparing to stock firmware - 2-3MB/s). Firmware seems to work stable but I haven't tried other features - I focused on NAS performance as it was most important thing for me.
