This is how it works for me.
Assuming your usb drive is showing as mounted.
Samba: enabled
Server string: R7000 (can be anything)
workgroup: workgroup (this is default unless your in an AD)
path: mnt/sda1
subdir: (blank)
name: BUP (this is your share name, no spaces)
public: checked
access: read/write
If you started this after the pc then you will probably want to use the ip address of your router.
For me I access it like this from my windows pc.
\\192.168.1.1\bup
