R7000 still bricked after apparent successful flash

(Apologies for posting this again - I think I put it in the wrong place - I'm new here!)

My R7000 was bricked.  Following the excellent advice on this forum (and after multiple failed attempts!!!) I have been able to upload a firmware file using a USB/serial cable, putty/tftp and the transfer apparently worked - "transfer successful".  After this the router seemed to be re-booting (activity in putty console - I got excited) but ends up simply cycling round as it did before (I got depressed again) implying the flash was actually NOT successful.  I've tried different Netgear firmware versions each with apparent success but none actually truly successful.  Any ideas?  How do you actually know if it's been successful (other than the router springing into life!)?

There are vaious nasty looking lines (to my un-trained eye) in the putty console report, things like this (this is just a small selection):
