I'm ready to upgrade my R7000 to Tomato firmware but one thing is stopping me. Currently I use the Netgear ReadyShare Vault as a simple backup solution for a Windows laptop. I am unsure whether this requires specific Netgear services from the default firmware or whether it is enough just to set up USB storage over SMB. Does anybody know?

Well I took the plunge anyway and the good news is it worked. I set the tomato hostname to readyshare and named the SMB share USB_Storage as it is on the Netgear firmware. The ReadyShare Vault software on the laptop picked up the old backup from the drive and continued as it left off.
Hope this is useful for other users.
