Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1TB Drive

Hey All,

I purchased a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1TB Drive to use with my router, hardware version WNR3500L. When I plug it in it starts up and stays on for like a minute then shuts off and starts up again and repeats. It seems I can access the hard drive from the network but when I try and steam an mp4 it will only get about a minute in and then the drive goes offline.

Anyone know of why this issue is happening? Any solutions?

Thanks for any help you can provide,

Jeremy

Just to clarify, it is the

Just to clarify, it is the hard drive that starts up and shuts off, not the router.

This drive by default spins

This drive by default spins down after 60s. With the factory firmware there is no chance to work around this issue since it uses kernel 2.4 which is not capable to set powermanagement modes of external drives.

I have read some tutorial for dd-wrt before which described how to change the powermanagement mode of an external drive, spindown drives manually etc.. These infos are either in dd-wrts wiki or forum, don't have a link ready.
