I would like to get some advice on which firmware update would be the best for the Netgear R7000 router. I contacted Netgear and they have no plans to make new firmware for the Netgear R7000. I am wanting to find out what features and performance increase I would get.
I am looking for a openvpn client/server built in,vpn, and customizable hotspot. The co-op mode would be nice and beamforming. I would like most of the same things as Netgear firmware but better performance and options.

These features are included in DD-WRT firmware. You can use DD-WRT firmware for your router.
I wount loose any functionality like beamforming or speed on the lan or WiFi side will I. I have heard that broadcom has licensed their drivers to oem only. Has DD-WRT fixed that Issue.I am going to try to get fiber optic connectivity when I move.

What firmware update would I use to update my router. I know I have to install initial first then the update. I am not Linux literature.(noob).lol
There is a JavaScript to block surveys, can I add that very easily. It is used mostly in the browser but if I can add it to the router it would be great.
