USB - How to get it working?

Hi, I have a WNR3500L running Kongs latest build, dd-wrt-usb-ftp-samba3-dlna-O2-v24-K26-broadcom.bin.

I've been tinkering with the usb to try to get it to work. To see it from my PC, for starters, and then work my way up to using the DLNA server to stream it to my PS3.

So far all I've worked out is that the router recognizes the USB, but I can't see it through my PC. I plugged in and out my drive 3 times, here's the last part of the USB log:

Disk 2:
--- /dev/scsi/host2/bus0/target0/lun0/disc
Block device, size 29.92 GiB (32128368640 bytes)
DOS/MBR partition map
Partition 1: 29.92 GiB (32124174336 bytes, 62742528 sectors from 8192)
Type 0x0C (Win95 FAT32 (LBA))
Windows NTLDR boot loader
FAT32 file system (hints score 4 of 5)
Volume size 29.90 GiB (32108478464 bytes, 1959746 clusters of 16 KiB)
Mountpoints:
/dev/scsi/host2/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 mounted to /tmp/mnt/disc2-part1

How do I navigate to it through my PC to see it's files and save files on it?

You should find the shared

You should find the shared USB drive in "My Network Places" in your windows machine.
There you can nevigate, write (if it not write protected) to the USB drive.

Thanks for replying. I did

Thanks for replying. I did check my "My Network Places" and under 'Local Network' I see 'router', but when I click on router, it opens up the router page on my browser; 198.162.1.1 - other than that, I see nothing related to the router or USB. Any more ideas?

It is seen from your post

It is seen from your post that USB is mounted properly. Now to navigate it from your LAN host you must have samba support in your router. Try to find out if router is running samba demon or not, moreover ensure that samba is properly configured from the WebUI.

Thanks, but that didn't work

Thanks, but that didn't work either.
I tried enabling on Samba, then MiniDLNA, then ProFTPD and still nothing.
so I disabled them all back again.

@BluJay, you have to setup a

@BluJay, you have to setup a samba share under Serices->NAS, enable Samba select PATH -> /tmp/mnt/disc2-part1 give it a name e.g. Public mark checkbox public Read/Write, Apply Settings, now Connect to the share:

\\RouterIP\Public

or \\routername\Public

routername is the one you have set under Setup Optional Settings

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle... That worked great!! Thanks monkey man.. I mean Kong.

Working Super now!!

Now can you help me with the other thing I'm trying to get my router to do, which is:
Set up a 2nd WAN and limit the bandwidth on it so that I maintain most of my bandwidth on my primary network.

Going to check this myself soon, but:
If I have 2 WANs, and I have shared files on a PC, the 2nd network shouldn't be able to access them right?

Are you sure you mean 2 WAN

Are you sure you mean 2 WAN connection and not 2 vlans?

Per default your local networks should have access to the shares you can always limit this with a firewall rule.

Through the gui you cannot set bandwidth limits for each vlans, but you can priorize traffic e.g. give a certain vlan higher priority.

No I don't mean vlans. (I

No I don't mean vlans. (I think)

I'm referring to
Main WAN:
Wireless -> Basic Settings -> Wireless Physical Interface
Physical Interface wl0 - SSID [Blank] HWAddr [Blank]

Other WAN:
Wireless -> Basic Settings -> Virtual Interfaces
Virtual Interfaces wl0.1 SSID [dd-wrt_vap] HWAddr[Blank]

where you can add up to 3 virtual WANs/SSIDs.

How do you set up these firewall rules and higher priority?

Kong

No that are not WAN

No that are not WAN interfaces. You can setup additional virtual wireless AP here and in case you run an unbridged configuration each wireless AP will have its own network adress/mask, just like a vlan.
These can be used in by the qos rules in order to set higher priority for a certain ip which conforms to the AP, see NAT/QOS

ok, so if I create wireless

ok, so if I create wireless AP, unbridged, then that network will not have access to my shared files on my main network?

How do I set up and use NAT/QOS?

How do I get the miniDLNA to

How do I get the miniDLNA to see the files on the USB?
In the boxes next to 'Pictures', 'Videos' and 'Music' I have tried putting \\dd-wrt\Public, \\192.168.1.1\Public and /tmp/mnt/disc1-part1

The PS3 is seeing the Media Server, but it can't see any files in it.
