USB Storage sharing

I bought the WNDR3800 specifically to share data with friends/family over the net.  Unfortunately, ReadyShare is too difficult.  Can't get it working.

Tech Support wrote in email that it works only between 3800s.  That's fairly useless.

Any other ideas on how to share with non-techy users?  I could use the built-in http/ftp servers, but don't know of any really easy FTP software.

Also, is there any way to add another login/password for another user besides Admin?

Can you please specify how

Can you please specify how are you connected with the friends/family with whom you want to share data ??
As per my knowledge, readyshare shares data among LAN hosts. Can you please give some information about your setup ??

You have to go into router

You have to go into router advanced setup to turn on Http and FTP sharing. I still haven't found a way to use ReadyShare as advertised.

on the Advanced Router setup page, just copy the HTTP or FTP link to an email.
Have family member paste it into MY COMPUTER and they will see the USB Storage being shared.

I have shared only one folder publicly which does not need a password. The only caveat about doing it this way is the router gets a new IP address from my cable company if there is a power outage or I turn it off. In that case, I would have to send everyone the new number.

If I haven't misunderstood

If I haven't misunderstood your words, you are now able to share data using Readydshare and the only problem you are having when your router is rebooted.

Perhaps I didn't word it

Perhaps I didn't word it clear. I have been referring to ReadyShare CLOUD. I can not get that set up correctly to share files with friends/family. The Help just has me going around in circles and Netgear tech support was no help either.

I ended up using the built-in FTP server in the router. Have you ever tried to explain FTP to a non-techy person. It's not easy. That's why I purchased this router for the ReadyShare Cloud feature which I can't get working 'as advertised'.
