Using two 3500Lv2 on the same home network with working WiFi on both

Hi.

I live in a house with two floors. I have two WNR3500Lv2 with tomato (1.28 from Shibby) on both floors. How could I connect them so I have just 1 home network? I want to be use wifi on both routers upstairs and downstairs but do I have to use to SSIDs or could I have just 1? I have made a sketch below. Any help appriciated on how to set this up.
