Is there a way to get tomato (toastman) to tell me the speed of the ethernet on the wan side.
I've recently upgraded my broadband from "up to 8Mbps" to "up to 20Mbps". I have a tp-link 8816 in bridge mode acting as modem and have a WNR3500L connect to it's lan port. I think I have secured the tp-link (by default it's totally insecure) and the connection seems to be fairly stable.
In the modem web server I can see download speed of around 15Mbs, but testing on my pc I seem to get speeds of only 6Mbs. The WNR3500L & my pc have Gbps ethernet so I'm wondering what speed the tp-link to router cable is actually running at. According to the docs the tp-link is 10/100M, but can I tell what speed is actually used?
Well after a couple of days the download speed has increased to 12.5Mbpsso I'm guessing that the td-8816 modem wnr3500L ether is running faster than 10mbps, but I would still like to know if I can determine the ether speeds on the router.
What OS are you running on your pc that you are running the tests on? If its Windows I've found this TCP Optimizer program over on Speedguide.net pretty useful.

Arch linux. I don't think I need optimize the raw speed. I've also tried the speed testing from another machine with windows, but the raw speed seems pretty consistent.
