Want to buy WNR3500Lv2 - At my wits end

This is what I want to buy:
http://www.netgear.co.uk/home/produc...3500L.aspx#two

This page says it was announced in January 2012:
http://www.myopenrouter.com/category...-Source-Router

Needless to say I would like to buy it and start modifying it with my own firmware.

Trouble is...no place on the planet sells it online. I've read Target in the US sells them but their website comes up empty. And i've found a man in Poland shipping them on a dodgy site: allegro.pl but the shipping costs internationally are almost double the unit price he sells for (I emailed him yesterday. Nice guy but the site is awful and everything is done by wire transfer).

I work in Mongolia in Asia and I have family willing to send it from the UK if needs be but I just can't get a hold of the WNR3500Lv2 from anywhere.

Why am I coming across old stock of 3500ls everywhere but not the v2. Plenty of people online have it and there's the Shibby mod for it on Tomato firmware but buying the actual router is a no-go.

I called a family friend in the UK who runs a computer hardware shop and asked if he could see if his distributer had any. The reply was that the v2 is only sold in Jordan :/ Weird. All the tech shops in Mongolia carry the v1.

Help?

I posted on the official

I posted on the official netgear forums with the same topic and someone called jmizoguchi with 72k posts responded but wasn't helpful. I've emailed [email protected].

Where has everyone bought their's?

Oh L version.

Oh L version.

I got my 3500L V1 from that same Amazon page. I bought a refurb though. I works fine for my needs. Running Toastman's tomato on it.

What makes the V2 more desireable? More ram, flash, ect?

FlashRouters has WNR3500v2

FlashRouters has WNR3500v2 and WNR3500L, both flashed with DD-WRT. They ship to anywhere in the world that USPS ships to.

Whoa ForumUser2 you hit the

Whoa ForumUser2 you hit the nail on the head there with the Amazon page. :D
I'll be sure not to get a refurb though lest it arrives as a v1. I'll put in an order tonight.
You're a life saver ForumUser2. Seems like they at Amazon don't put v2 in the title so you have to go through a lot of details on the actual page to find one.

The broadband in Mongolia is great. I got fibre optic at my house 2 weeks ago which is why i'm looking for a router. Though for 10mbit I could get 50mbit in the UK which my family has. 10mbit is fine though and it's being upgraded to 20mbit this week for free. The prices are higher for phone and internet but the infrastructure is just getting there. I had 2.5mbit ADSL before switching over and using the internet was a pain. Very little would load before you'd storm off to go do something else.
Mobinet gives the best bang for your buck here for fibre optic.

Tell us what you get when it arrives. Your link only ships to the US. Oh well I have a lot detail pages to go through on the .co.uk version.

I just got an E3000 from

I just got an E3000 from FlashRouters, including excellent setup diretions and working build for some port forwarding and VPN configurations I wanted to setup.

I had a question, e-mailed them at [email protected] and got a quick helpful response within a few minutes.

Definitely recommend them if you are looking for a fast DD-WRT solution.

Thank you for blurting out

Thank you for blurting out your irrelevant advertisement.

No, I am very much not interested in a dd-wrt solution or your model of router.

It's common fly-by

It's common fly-by advertising. 1 post history and even having read at the top that tomato FW was on the agenda they still 'recommend' theirs.

This is the only way you can deal with these people. Flashrouters is quite high on the google rankings so I don't see why they would resort to this. I know of their site anyway and they don't sell what I would like so it's a thread hijack what SoSore is doing and it's rude.

edit: wooo good for you ForumUser2! I'm glad you got what you were looking for. I'll definitely use your link then. I've found a parcel forwarding service that can send it from the States. I appreciate the report back ForumUser2, thank you very much =)

I went into a Fry's

I went into a Fry's Electronics, and bought my WNR3500Lv2 in person (480MHz, 128MB Flash, 128MB RAM) clearly printed on the box. I still have my box right here: it says WNR3500L all over it, but under package contents on a side flap, it says WNR3500Lv2. The back also states that it has "128MB NAND FLASH and 128MB RAM." The update is not on a sticker, they printed the boxes like this. Here's the product page from Fry's:
http://www.frys.com/product/6069588?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
which is confusing, because it says it has 8MB Flash near the top of the description, then at the bottom of the page states that it has 128MB Flash. Maybe you'll have to place your order by phone (from Fry's or any other source) and ask the salesperson to actually check the box back for 128MB NAND Flash & 128MB RAM, or buy it in person.
Though there's no reason to open the box (unless mis-boxed, in which case you can return it) it will also clearly state the model WNR3500Lv2 on the back of the router. I paid $69 + tax for mine in California.

Newegg.com has it for $64.99 on their website which is also ambiguous at this time, listed as WNR3500L-100NAS. I'm writing to them right now, so they might correct their site and post to this thread. That's up to them, of course.
