What's wrong with DD-WRT?

I use the WNR3500L to connect  2 networks via Wi-FiSo far, I've always used the Tomato firmware.

I wanted to try something new. So I installed DD-WRT.

What I immediately noticed the Wirreless performance is noticeably worse. The connection is lousy and the transfer rate is much worse.  What is the difference between Tomato and DD-WRT? Driver? Default Configuration?

USB also works poorly. A USB flash drive or hard drive fails after some time.

I would like to use OpenWRT. But current versions do not support the WNR3500. Why is that?

I second wanting OpenWRT for

I second wanting OpenWRT for the WNR3500. I abandoned using my WNR3500 and bought a Buffalo router instead just so I could run OpenWRT.

I had similar experiences with bad performance on DD-WRT. I didn't like tomato either because it was not as well documented and harder to customize.

And why? The Ads before

And why? The Ads before Product launch say others. But the WNR3500L is not real OpenSource.

I buy never again a Netgear Device!

OpenWRT supports true open

OpenWRT supports true open source drivers, broadcom - which is what the WNR3500L has inside, doesn't have a true open source driver, it has a binary blob driver, which isn't netgear's fault, that would be more something you need to take up with broadcom. Which is why openwrt support for it, and most other broadcom units, is slow at best.

Assuming you have the skills to do so, you can port openwrt for yourselves, you'd have to add support for the code to work with your device, and then you can compile the code with the bcmxxx.ko wrapper in it. But that would be the best you could do, and like i said, since broadcom's driver isn't open source, the openwrt team has no real interest in providing support for that unit. OpenWRT mainly supports Atheros based units because the Atheros wireless driver is open source (ath9k)

I have try OpenWRT on the WNR3500L. I used the Kamikaze Beta stuff and rebuild it on Backfire. Then take i Toastmens Toamto Sources and build OpenWRT with the Tomato Kernel. Both works... After 2 days of experimenting and I noticed that it was total waste of time. Yes, I met Broadcom´s Binaryblob. I do not care how he's come out since. I was cheated as a customer of Netgear.

Now has i deleted the Sources, i buyed a new Router and the WNR3500 has thrown on the scrap.

Uh no, you make NO sense here

Uh no, you make NO sense here and i highly doubt you built openwrt with tomato kernel - it wouldn't work - those are 2 totally and i mean totally different firmwares.
