Wifi pigtails and connectors

These questions are about pigtails and connections for the microwave-capable cable.

I removed one pigtail from a old Linksys WRT54G WiFi router and another one was removed from the antenna.

I believe that the one from the router has a male connector and the one from the antenna has a female connector.

  1. What size is the connector from the WiFi router? Is there a special name for it?

  1. Is there a connector that connects directly to the back of the N-connector?

  1. Is there an adapter that can downsize the router's connector to the connector from the antenna? Is there a special name for it (other then x-to-x adapter)?

  1. The pigtail from the router looks to be unshielded. Is that OK? Could I hypothetically shield it by wrapping aluminum foil around it?

Thank you so much to everyone that took the time to read my post! Your responses are greatly appreciated!
