will the Netgear R7300 router work with alternative firmware?

I'm looking at possibly getting the Netgear R7300 router at Best Buy. My understanding is this model allows you to use a powerline based wireless extender. Will this model work with alternative firmware (tomato, DD-WRT, etc.)  like the R7300 can? Like modem/router combo models won't work, I'm wondering if its the same thing here too.

for it to work, two things

for it to work, two things need to happen

1) someone needs to add support for it

2) someone need to compile the images and test them

at the moment, at least for Tomato, it does not support this model.  I don't know much about the R7300 but if you want to be absolutely sure on support by 3rd party FW, get a model that is supported and well tested like the R7000 or R8000

It is best to make sure there

It is best to make sure there is 3rd party fiirmware available prior to shelling out that much money for a home router.

I would pick the R7000 over the R8000 as the R8000 has more problems with running 3rd party firmware.
