OpenVPN on R9000

My Router R9000 running Voxel V1.0.4.30HF-HW

I have gone through the setps of setting up the OpenVPN client. I'm using ExpressVPN and used this guide.

Is it necessary to enable DDNS and check the box for Enable VPN Service (OpenVPN 2.4.x) under Advanced setup?
