Shibby install, can't determine brick-status, advice?

I'm comfortable tinkering with devices, but my router is not one I'd done until now.
I can't tell if I bricked it or not.  I've read everything I could (but the most referenced article on the issue is a dead link).
The details:
- Top light stays orange
- Wifi light is on and blue
- Router is visible on the network
- Unable to connect

When trying to connect to the access point, I can get as far as entering the password, but the connection times out before connecting, and I'm unable to ping the device without being connected to it.

Is this considered bricked?

Thank you!

I wasn't finished.

I wasn't finished.

The router is a WNR3500Lv2.  I can get the original firmware if it's important, but I do know it was not up to date.
I flashed Shibby's Tomato.  I was certain to pick the correct model.  Shibby's version was latest.
