When I connect with my serial cable to my 614 L I can telnet to my router no problem but it asks for a user name and password I put the user name and password configured for dd-wrt as the header for the prompt is dd-wrt and this fails. Do you have any sugestions? I have followed the article how to connect with serial cable and that ctrl-c command using putty is bogus lets have a disscussion on someting that works. I can't get past the user id and password prompt on my serial connection.
Once u have flashed a new f/w onto your WGR614L do a hard factory reset b4 trying any login ...
After hard factory reset ur user id shud be "root" and password shud be "admin" ...
Let us know if u still face any pblm or in case u have any doubts ...
Thank you for your quick suggestion i tried this but had no luck I must say though that I did not try the hard reset. I tried my router login user id and password as this time it showed me the routers correct name ( i named the router) but this user id and password failed do you think a hard reset is the only way to go? I don't want to lose my settings.
I suggested hard reset bcoz u dont know wat z the correct user name and password and getting back to default factory parameters woud have solved your problem ....
Anywaz if u r unwilling to do a hard reset I would suggest u to try following combinations :
1.uname : root
pwd : password
2 . uname : admin
pwd : password
If still u r unable to log in then hard reset z the only way ...
