WGR614L Firmware Choices Compared

A number of various firmwares are now available for the NETGEAR WGR614L router. Tomato and DD-WRT have already been released, and developers are working on Open-WRT also. Besides these, a customized MyOpenRouter independent firmware build is also available!

So, you can enjoy the freedom of a wide selection of firmware for the WGR614L - but how do you choose which one to install?

I have personally tried and tested all of the firmwares released on this site, and I have prepared a list comparing the features of the different firmware choices.

This should help you choose the firmware that best works for your situation, and that has the features you are looking for.  In this list, blanks with red colour signify that the corresponding feature is absent, while light blue colour signifies that the feature is present.  If you have any questions about this list, please post your question in the public forums!

Nice, DD-WRT is awesome but unfortunately your the only ones with a build out or even developing DD-WRT for this router... Is your build in this comparison?

The chart is not accurate

The chart is not accurate (probably because it's over 6 months old), at least for some features of the latest version from Netgear (wireless security).

Also, although not exactly dhcp forwarding, wireless is bridged to LAN, so you can plug the uplink into one of the normal ports and leave the WAN unplugged, and basically do dhcp forwarding... That probably breaks some features meant for the uplink, but you are less likely to need them where you would want to do dhcp forwarding...
