Having installed dd-wrt on a Linksys WRT54Gv8, I wanted to get the same features on my trusty WGR614. Story short, read the instructions, downloaded software and couldn't wait until the next morning to give it a try.
I did performed a router upgrade to the latest release from Netgear, found out they added a basic support for QoS settings and wireless repeaters.... but I wanted more.
Router is running great, modified the wireless security settings and all the laptops, including a macbook, authenticated as they previously did with the Netgear code.
Glad to see the hotspot options, I might give it a try.
Thank you, Nachi and Peter.

WGR614v8 running dd-wrt
Hello, again. After nine days of running great, the wireless connection started giving problems, with applications becoming very slow to respond, pings to default LAN gateway had 25-75% loss and the max connection rate reported by dd-wrt was 1 Mbps. Memory usage had crept up from 79% to 96% earlier in the morning before the problem started.
Anyhows, connected to the router via telnet on the wireless side and performed a reload. Router came back and everything went back to normal.
I do VPN for at least 10 hrs/day plus have two other computers that connect via wireless, only.
For what it's worth, thought to give this forums' admins a heads up. Will let dd-wrt still in the router and see how it behaves for the next month or so, I'd hate to revert to using the wrg614 as a wireless bridge and fire up the Netscreen, which gets a bit hot for my taste.
Good night everyone!
thanks. please let us know if this problem persists. Please keep posting your feedback regarding this image.
