WGR614L & WRT54GL - differences?

Hi

Could anybody tell me the differences and compatibility of WGR614L with WRT54GL and WRT54GS?

While all of these routers

While all of these routers are based on broadcom 53xx series chipsets, WGR614L is based on a newer BCM5354 chipset on a BCM947xx reference platform.

WGR614L runs faster than WRT54GL. Both of the router uses the Same MIPS 4k CPU architecture, but the integrated wireless in BCM5354 is different than that of BCM5352. And both of these router has same amount of flash (4MB) and SDRAM (16MB).

Netgear's WGR614L's factory firmware also supports the WPS and SES (Secure Ez Setup - Broadcom specific).

WRT54GS is a different story though. The newer versions are based on the similar chipset but the Flash and RAM is only 2 MB and 16MB. Older versions used to have 8MB flash and 32MB sdram.

Hello,

Hello,

is the WPS feature a hardware function (the push button aside), or would it possible to integrate this feature into a firmware (with a 'software button' to press on the web interface)?

I have a WRT54GS and would love this feature, even with software button.

Hi joe ,

At first I would like to suggest you that this site is dedicated to WGR614L so I doubt whether u will beable to attract enough notice to your problem .... It would be a better idea to post this to Linksys site and do some googling .... :)

As far as WPS feature is concerned I know a router capable of this :

Netgear ' s WNR3500 Range max router  supports Push-N-connection method ( an authentication-association method based on WPS ) whereby a client can connect to a AP using Push-N button .

Obviously in this case both the client and the AP should support Push-N-mechanism.

As far as enabling this feature from a GUI button is concerned , I have not yet come across a router that provides this ..
