Questions concerning 2.6.x Kernel, Open Source WiFi and QoS support

Hi,

I am interested in using one of the open Netgear routers for a research project here at the university. I've read some documents here at the website but there are still three questions that weren't answered so far.

Is there a support for a recent 2.6.x kernel? I've only read about 2.4.20 kernel but this cannot be real - this kernel version was released in November 2002 - it's SEVEN YEARS old!

Is the driver for the wireless chip also open source or just a binary module? I'd require to obtain some extra information out of the driver so an open source variant would be very beneficial.

Does the router support QoS in terms of 802.11e or WME?

Best Regards,

Ingo
