WGR614 V8 and DD-WRT update

hello Everyone

Couple days ago I bought my first open router ( I use Linux a few years)
But os. for routers is for me black magick :( (at the moment)

I install DD-WRT from this guide,
but yesterday i saw on page dd-wrt that exist new os. for my router.

I read this (Upgrading to a Newer Version of DD-WRT)on DD-WRT wiki.

Please  tell me with version ( and extention bin/chk)    I must chose (home network, 3 clients it's, ssh) and how  update my WGR ?

Thanks a lot

If you already have DD-WRT on

If you already have DD-WRT on the router then use the BIN file shown for your router version. The Micro version BIN file should do what you need.

Also it would be better to

Also it would be better to use IE for f/w upgrade instead of firefox ...... you can upload MINI version of the build also (it would provide some extra features)...
Make sure that if u have a DD-WRT f/w running on ur board , u use .bin file for upgrade and if u have default netgear f/w running on ur board u use .chk file for upgrade ...

Set your computer's address

Set your computer's address to something like 192.168.1.10, 255.255.255.0 and gateway to 192.168.1.1.
Then try to ping, tftp to 192.168.1.1

I assume you are running

I assume you are running Windows.
To TFTP you need to enter
tftp -i 192.168.1.1 PUT yourfirmware.chk

the -i after tftp tells it binary and then the adress or your router, then "PUT" tells it to send the firmware you name onto the router.
