I just set up my WNR3500L and was surprised to find out that the Netgear firmware did not have any Media Sharing options.
I am looking for firmware that will let me:
-Share my USB HD over the network
-Host an FTP server
-Host an DLNA media server so I can stream off of my PS3
I tried to do some research but am having no luck, any suggestions??
Thanks
install optware and install llink pakage or better for PS3 Ushare pakage for me it works like a dream on dd-wrt mega
Hi patmtp35,
I'm just curious which dd-wrt version have you installed?
I am using 13491 and ushare cannot find br0. Others reported 13832 working.
Thanks.
hi !
i m using DD-WRT for WNR3500L v24 K2.6 BIG 13972 BETA (BIN) but i don't have tryed ushare only llink
I have DD-WRT for WNR3500L v24 K2.6 BIG 13972 BETA (BIN) installed on my router but I cannot find how to use the media server. Is it more complicated than upgrading the firmware? I really need a readydlna/media server feature.
You'll need to install one from Optware.
I also bought the wnr3500L assuming it would already have the support for the functions mentioned by dm_dano. Unfortunately everything but for the dlna is supported.
Since the version mentioned above all changed, which firmware should I use? Should I be choosing between "Tomato Firmware with USB (EXT)" or "DD-WRT Kong Mod USB/FTP/miniDLNA/Samba3 for NETGEAR WNR3500L".
Please advise! Thanks!
I am using Tomato's 1.28.9051 MIPSR2-beta22 K26 USB Ext and it works great. No issues or problems. If you have a lot of MP3's and videos you may need to have the router create the database on the external HD instead of the router itself though.
You would set it normally here. http://192.168.1.1/nas-media.asp as a custom path.
Kong's has also worked for me in the past. so I am not picking sides, just saying what I am running now.
