Reset to DD-WRT to defaults

I installed the DD-WRT v24 firmware and it worked great, but somewhere in the process of configuring it I manged to...  well, "brick" is a little strong, I'm sure it still boots, but I believe I managed to foul up the network settings enough that I can't access the configuration web page.

The button on the back of the WRT614L that resets it with the default Netgear firmware doesn't seem to work with DD-WRT.   Is there a trick to it, or does anyone have any other ideas for wresting back control of my router?

If I underestimate your

If I underestimate your abilities please forgive me.
First you need to see if you can PING the router.
See his article on how to do so.
http://www.myopenrouter.com/article/10277/Ping---Explained/

Will it Ping? If not then while running th ping window, using the -t command. Unplug your router, hold down the reset button and pug it back in.
wait about 30 secs and watch the ping window. does it give a response? If so, now try and load the page in your web browser.

Ok, using the reset button

Ok, using the reset button did eventually reset it to factory defaults, but the behavior of DD-WRT seems to be a bit different from the stock Netgear firmware -- with the stock firmware you hold it in for five seconds or so and the orange check light on the front starts flashing, with the DD-WRT firmware I believe you have to hold the button in longer, and the light doesn't flash, and maybe you have to power it off and cold boot it to get back to the defaults.

THis does nothing for me.

THis does nothing for me. Guess my router is totally fucked, thanks to following the instructions detailed on this site for installing the DD-WRT firmware. Thanks, netgear.

See my post about problems with this router. It looks like you are having the same difficulties I am. In my case, I can always reset back to defaults but trying to customize the setup ends up making the network setting unstable. I have also had the symptom where the web gui becomes unavailable even though my clients get an IP address. There's been very little explanation of what the problems are but it does seem that some folks are trying to help.

It is clear that it does not work well.
