WNR3500L with DD-WRT as Access Point

Hello

My configuration: ADSL modem, Router (Netgear WGR614, only as Firewall and Router, WLAN is off), Gigaswitch. Now, I'd like to use my WNR3500L with DD-WRT as Access Point for my iPod touch etc.. This works, but I've the following problem: when I switch off the WNR3500L (power off) then my computer (connected per LAN at the switch) has no access to the Internet for abvout 2 minutes. Then it works fine again. I assume my WGR614 get in trouble and "reboot".

What can I do? Is my configuration wrong? Do I set RIP?

Thanks a lot

Christoph

Use the LAN port not WAN to

Use the LAN port not WAN to connect from WNR3500L to Gigaswitch.
Disable WAN or select to use WAN as LAN in DDWRT.
Disable DHCP on WNR3500L.
Set DDWRT as router/access point not gateway.
Set default gateway in DDWRT to WGR614 LAN IP address (default-192.168.1.1).

I use Tomato but same applies.

Hello Hogeye

Hello Hogeye
Thanks a lot for your good hint. Meanwhile I found the problem: my ADSL modem did more than I assumed. It also has an DHCP server, which I switched off now and it als has an option called "any IP", which I also switched off. Now everything works fine.
Thanks a lot again
